AbstractThis paper presents the first results obtained with a new setup (SPALADIN) at GSI Darmstadt. For the first time, it is possible to decompose the total reaction cross-section in a spallation reaction into the different decay channels and study them as a function of excitation energy in a well defined hot system. This brings severe constraints to test different de-excitation models. This paper will be followed by a longer paper describing in details the experimental method and presenting further results.
