Dynamics on strata of trigonal Jacobians and some integrable problems of rigid body motion
H. W. Braden ; V. Z. Enolski ; Yu. N. Fedorov ;
Date 12 Oct 2012
AbstractWe explicitly solve the Goryachev case of rigid body motion in terms of sigma-functions of trigonal curves of genus 3. Although completely integrable this system is not algebraically integrable, and the solution involves dynamics on the strata of the curves. The solution is not meromorphic in complex time.
Although the strata of hyperelliptic curves have appeared in the literature in the context of some dynamical systems, this is the first example of an integrable system whose solution involves a more general curve and several new features (and formulae) are encountered in the solution.
