17 Sep 2013 | Abstract: | We investigate the Markovian evolution of strongly coupled harmonic
oscillators. The unitary evolution of linearly coupled harmonic oscillators can
be described analytically, but a complete picture of the dynamics should also
take into account the irreversible system-environment coupling. In the present
work we provide an explicit derivation of the master equation for two strongly
coupled harmonic oscillators which are subject to individual heat baths
modelled by a collection of harmonic oscillators. We compare the results with
the evolution obtained by phenomenologically introducing dissipation using
local Lindblad terms for each individual oscillator, and discuss the validity
of such a model, together with the effect it has on the entanglement between
the oscillators. | Source: | arXiv, 1309.4366 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
