Sign structure and generalized Marshall theorem for the spin-S t-J chain
Qing-Rui Wang ; Peng Ye ;
Date 24 Oct 2013
AbstractThe Marshall theorem and the Lieb-Mattis theorem are rigorous statements concerning the ground state total spin quantum number and the ordering of excited states for the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model, respectively. In this paper, these two theorems are generalized to the one dimensional spin-S t-J model at arbitrary hole doping concentration {delta}. A series of direct consequences of the theorems, such as the ground state degeneracy and edge states, are discussed. A criterion is also proposed for a model to have removable Z_2 sign structure in a given basis, which can be applied in constructing a sign-problem-free basis for a Monte Carlo simulation.
