24 Feb 2016 | | Abstract: | We introduce partial category actions on sets and we show that each such
partial action admits a universal globalization. Thereby, we obtain a
simultaneous generalization of corresponding results for groups, by J.
Kellendonk and M. Lawson and for monoids, by M. G. Megrelishvili and L.
Schroder. We apply this result in the special case of groupoid actions, where
we obtain a sharpening of a result by N. D. Gilbert, concerning ordered
groupoids, in the sense that mediating functions between universal
