Spanning Lattice Polytopes and the Uniform Position Principle
Johannes Hofscheier ; Lukas Katthän ; Benjamin Nill ;
Date 27 Nov 2017
AbstractA lattice polytope is called $ extit{spanning}$ if its lattice points affinely span the ambient lattice. We prove a lower bound for the sums of successive entries of the $h^{*}$-vector, generalizing the corresponding inequalities for IDP polytopes due to Stanley and Hibi’s Lower Bound Theorem. Our proof relies on a generalization of the Uniform Position Principle due to Harris.
