The Topological Nature Of Defects
E.D.M. Kavoussanaki ;
Date 25 May 2004
Subject hep-ph
AbstractThe subject of topological defects has become a very attractive field of study given its apparent relevance to as diverse systems as the early universe and condensed matter. As usually envisaged the topology of the manifold M of the minima of the relevant to our physical system effective potential V, provides reliable information about the capacity of that system to accommodate topological defects. Here we will examine the premises for that statement to be true.
