Quantum Memory for Light in a Double Lambda Atomic Ensemble
Xiong-Jun Liu ; Hui Jing ; Mo-Lin Ge ;
Date 24 Mar 2004
Subject quant-ph
AbstractWe examine the definition of dark-state polaritons (DSPs) in a double $Lambda$ atomic ensemble and its novel applications in quantum information. This problem raises an interest because, rather than one state of a given probe light, the injected quantized field can convert into two different output pulses by properly steering two control fields. Furthermore, by preparing the initial probe light in a Schödinger cat state, a feasible scheme to generate an optical entangled coherent states is revealed in this controllable linear system, which may open up the way for DSPs-based quantum information processing. The robustness of this scheme is analyzed by confirming the validity of adiabatic passage conditions.
