AbstractOptical dissipative structures supported by degenerate optical parametric oscillators are shown to exhibit perfect squeezing at a special transverse mode. Unlike squeezing in other cavity systems the phenomenon we report is not critical as is independent of the system parameters. This novel result is a direct consequence of the spatial symmetry breaking introduced by the dissipative structure.
