AbstractThe main purpose of this work is to clarify the disorder and band filling role in suppressing the superconducting properties in the two band superconductor MgB2. We prepare a series of Mg1-x(AlLi)xB2 samples with 0 < x < 0.45 by direct synthesis of pure elements. We perform structural characterisation by means of neutron and X-ray diffraction analysis; we investigate magnetic and transport properties by means of ac-susceptibility and electrical resistance measurements; specific heat was measured in various magnetic field and vibrational properties were investigated by means of Raman spectroscopy. We show that double doping suppress the critical temperature down to 25.6K for the heavily doped sample. We compare those results with those obtained on an homologous series of Mg1-xAlxB2 samples and suggest that structure deformation tune normal and superconducting properties much more than band filling.
