5 Sep 2005 | Subject: | Mesoscopic Systems and Quantum Hall Effect | cond-mat.mes-hall | Abstract: | We exploit, in some detail, inelastic cotunneling through a strong Coulomb-blockaded quantum dot attached to two ferromagnetic leads in the weak coupling limit using a generic Langevin equation approach. We first propose a non-Markovian equation to describe the cotunneling-induced spin relaxation dynamics, and then derive explicit analytical expressions for the local magnetization, current, and its fluctuations. Based on them, we predict some novel transport properties and particularly highlight the responsibility of {em spin-flip (spin relaxation)} cotunneling processes. | Source: | arXiv, cond-mat/0509098 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
