AbstractWe present a quantum Boltzmann equation approach to the spin-Hall effect in a diffusive Rashba two-dimentional electron system. In the self-consistent Born approximation, the disorder-induced quasiclassical relaxation, collision broadening of the quasiparticles and intracollision field effect are considered. It is proven analytically that the spin-Hall current vanishes, independent of the coupling constant, the broadening of the quasiparticles and the concrete form of the isotropic scattering potential. The specific features of the Green’s functions in helicity basis and the sum relations of the collision terms have also been carried out.
