Using the method of exact numerical diagonalization of the many-body Hamiltonian, as well as the mean-field approximation, we examine the transition from the Bose-Einstein condensed state to the Tonks-Girardeau state. In the Tonks-Girardeau limit the system supports persistent currents, even though Bose-Einstein condensation is absent. | Source: | arXiv, cond-mat/0510315 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
