Guaranteed Rates for Dark Matter Production at the Large Hadron Collider and International Linear Collider | Jonathan L. Feng

13 Mar 2005 | Subject: | hep-ph | Abstract: | If WIMPs or superWIMPs, weakly- or superweakly-interacting massive particles, are a component of dark matter, their relic density is obtained by the freeze out of weakly interacting particles. Upper bounds on relic density therefore imply lower bounds on annihilation cross sections and, through detailed balance, lower bounds on the dark matter production rates at colliders. We determine these lower bounds for future colliders. For WIMPs the guaranteed signal is indistinguishable from background at the Large Hadron Collider. In contrast, for superWIMPs the guaranteed rate implies spectacular signals at both the Large Hadron Collider and the International Linear Collider. | Source: | arXiv, hep-ph/0503117 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
