Extinction Transition on a Pie
Nadav M. Shnerb ;
Date 4 Jul 2000
Subject Soft Condensed Matter; Statistical Mechanics | cond-mat.soft cond-mat.stat-mech
AbstractExtinction transition of bacteria under forced rotation is analyzed in pie geometry. Under convection, separation of the radial and the azimuthal degrees of freedom is not possible, and the linearized evolution operator is diagonalized numerically. Some characteristics scales are compared with the results of recent experiments, and the ``integrable’’ limit of the theory at narrow growth region is analyzed.
