1 Sep 2011 | Abstract: | We consider a model of gravity and matter fields which is invariant only
under unimodular general coordinate transformations (GCT). The determinant of
the metric is treated as a separate field which transforms as a scalar under
unimodular GCT. Furthermore we also demand that the theory obeys pseudo-scale
invariance. We study the implications of the resulting theory. We solve the
resulting field equations for a sperically symmetric system in vacuum. We find
that the resulting solution contains an additional term in comparison to the
standard Schwarzchild solution. We also study the cosmological implications of
the model. We find that both in case of radiation and matter dominated universe
it predicts an accelerated expansion. Furthermore the model does not admit a
cosmological constant, thereby solving its fine tuning problem. | Source: | arXiv, 1109.0169 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
