On Tests of the Quantum Nature of Gravitational Interactions in Presence of Non-linear Corrections to Quantum Mechanics

AbstractFor two particles whose interaction is dominated by gravity and whose local dynamics follows the laws of quantum mechanics, the dynamical generation of entanglement is held to imply the quantum character of gravitational interactions. Here we show that such an entanglement dynamics may be observed also for a gravitational interaction that is classical or altogether absent at short distances when, simultaneously, a much weaker quantum interaction {em and} a weak non-linear corrections to local quantum mechanics are present. This demonstrates that a conclusive test of the quantum character of gravity needs to go beyond entanglement detection and encompass, at least, the test of quantitative bounds on the strength of other quantum forces {em and} of possible non-linear corrections to quantum mechanics in the regime of large masses.
