Josephson Effect Without Superconductivity: Realization in Quantum Hall Bilayers | Michael M. Fogler

26 Jul 2000 | Journal: | Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 1833 (2001) | Subject: | Mesoscopic Systems and Quantum Hall Effect | cond-mat.mes-hall | Affiliation: | MIT), Frank Wilczek (MIT | Abstract: | We show that a quantum Hall bilayer with the total filling $
u = 1$ should exhibit a dynamical regime similar to the flux-flow in large Josephson junctions. This analogy may explain a conspicuous peak in the interlayer tunneling conductance [prl {f 84}, 5808 (2000)]. The flux-flow is likely to be spatiotemporally chaotic at low bias voltage, which will manifest itself through broad-band noise. The peak position can be controlled by an in-plane magnetic field. | Source: | arXiv, cond-mat/0007403 | Other source: | [GID 569072] pmid11290260 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
