AbstractWe show that the properties of the gapless mode of the BEC/BCS crossover in the presence of a Feshbach resonance at T=0 can be derived easily from the derivative expansion of the exact (one-loop) effective action. In particular, from a simple ’wheel’ and ’axle’ phonon action, we calculate the sound velocity, both analytically and numerically, throughout the BCS and BEC regimes.
