15 Jun 2006 | Subject: | Superconductivity; Strongly Correlated Electrons | Abstract: | We consider scenarios where a d- or s-symmetry, 4-lattice constant, charge density wave (CDW) is present in the underdoped cuprates. We demonstrate, within mean-field theory, that the d-symmetry CDW best describes the single-electron spectroscopy of high-$T_c$ materials. Moreover, we present a variation of the d-symmetry CDW which has the remarkable property that it exhibits the characteristics of stripe in real space and stays rotational invariant in momentum space. We conjecture that the ``large pseudogap’’ in cuprates is the consequence of these density waves. | Source: | arXiv, cond-mat/0606392 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
