Mott metal-insulator transition in the Hubbard model | Fusayoshi J. Ohkawa

26 Jun 2006 | Subject: | Strongly Correlated Electrons | Abstract: | The metal-insulator transition in the Hubbard model is examined within the single-site approximation (SSA) and beyond SSA. Within SSA, the ground state can be an insulating state only for the just half filling and W/U=0, with W the bandwidth of unrenormalized electrons and U the on-site repulsion. The ground state is a normal Fermi liquid in the other whole region. When order parameters or conventional Weiss’s mean fields are considered beyond SSA, the ground state must be an ordered state except for the insulating state. The electron-phonon interaction and multi-band or multi-orbital effects have to be considered to explain actual Mott metal-insulator transitions. | Source: | arXiv, cond-mat/0606644 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
