Ordered Lattice Defects in Colored Fluorite: Direct Observations
L E Murr ;
Date 18 Jan 1974
Journal Science, 183 (4121), 206-208
AbstractOrdered arrays of defect aggregates in the (111) planes of natural fluorite have been observed by transmission electron microscopy. The intense blue coloration observed in corresponding sample areas after 200-kilovolt electron microscopy confirms the conclusion that these are color-center aggregates and, conversely, that color centers are primarily responsible for fluorite coloration.
