Mutagenic and recombinogenic activities of the food additive furylfuramide in eurkaryotes
T M Ong ; M M Shahin ;
Date 7 Jun 1974
Journal Science, 184 (4141), 1086-7
AbstractThe mutagenic and recombinogenic activities of furylfuramide, an antimicrobial food additive, were tested in a two-component heterokaryon of Neurospora crassa and a diploid strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, respectively. The results show that furylfuramide is genetically active in both eukaryotic organisms; it induces mutations in Neurospora crassa and mitotic crossing over in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
