Evidence for antiferromagnetism at the interface between SrTiO3 and LaAlO3: transport study

Date 16 Feb 2009
AbstractWe studied the magneto-transport properties of atomically flat SrTiO3LaAlO3 interfaces as a function of magnetic field, its orientation and temperature. We find evidence for magnetic ordering below 35 K from the high fieeld magnetoresistance . Its strong anisotropy rules out magnetic impurities as the origin for the strong effects observed. At low fields superconductivity shows up at 130mK. We interpret our result as evidence for antiferromagnetic ordering at the interface.
