17 Feb 2007 | Abstract: | A new iterative method for constructing the self-consistent phase equilibrium models of stellar systems with a fixed mass density distribution is used for constructing the Milky Way Galaxy disk model. In this method, we use the density distribution in the Galaxy as input data. Here we used two Galactic density models (suggested by Flynn, Sommer-Larsen & Christensen 1996; Dehnen & Binney 1998a). A few modifications of the iterative method were developed. One of the modifications (the Orbit.NB approach) gives rather specific and probably non-physical models. Although such models are probably non-physical, the fact of such equilibrium phase models existence is of interest. In order to construct the equilibrium stellar Galactic disk model, we used another modification of the iterative method (the Nbody.NB approach). We show that the phase models constructed using this approach are close to the equilibrium. | Source: | arXiv, astro-ph/0702455 | Services: | Forum | Review | PDF | Favorites |
